Injury Biomechanics

The analysis of injury requires specialized knowledge and training beyond the scope of general accident reconstruction. Injury biomechanics combines knowledge of human anatomy, anthropometry, and human physical tolerances to determine injury potential or how injuries are caused.

Our biomechanics professionals have graduate degrees in Biomechanical Engineering and state-of-the-art experience in product design and qualification testing of vehicle systems, seatbelts, and helmets.

Examples of Biomechanical Analyses include:

  • Assessing occupant dynamics and performing comparisons with injury tolerance levels

  • Determining seat belt use and evaluating seatbelt effectiveness

  • Determining an occupant’s seating position to assist in answering the question of who was driving

  • Evaluating whether an injury claimed was caused by the collision in question

  • Using digital human modeling in a dynamic visualization

  • Determining helmet effectiveness for a head injury
